General Information
Mejía is located in the south-east of the Pichincha Province. Surrounding its limits are: the Quito and Rumiñahui cantons to the north, the Province of Cotopaxi to the south; the Napo Province to the east, and the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas to the west. It covers an area of 1,459 square kilometers and is comprised of eight parishes, seven of which are rural (Alóag, Aloasí, El Chaupi, Cutuglagua, Manuel Cornejo Astorga (Tandapi), Tambillo, and Uyumbicho). The one urban parish, Machachi, is also the canton's main town.
