OUR HISTORY:
For generation after generation, my family has lived in the foothills surrounding Avenida de los 9 Volcanes in Machachi and ”Andes Climbing” is the culmination of generations of adventurers in my family who have explored all the lagoons, waterfalls, glaciers and summits of every mountain.
In 1980, my father Pedro Cumbajín, who worked at the Cotopaxi refuge, was one of the first mountain guides who took tourists to the top of one of the highest active volcanoes on the planet. When I was a child I played in the shelter and learned with my father, to love the mountains.
After studying the tourism career, I specialized in mountain guide and with more than a dozen years as a mountain guide after having climbed these mountains hundreds of times. Finally, I made my father's dream come true, which was to create a tour operator that would take clients from all continents to the mountains of this beautiful Valley. My wife, Janeth, and I founded Andes Climbing in 2012.
